What the film says
Nine departments. One new grants system. Eighteen months to go-live.
At kickoff, everyone agrees. Then each department goes back to its own floor and builds its own picture of the finished system. Finance pictures payments.
The call centre pictures fewer calls. The assessors picture a shorter form. Nobody is wrong.
But nobody is picturing the same thing. A year in, the pieces don't meet. Now picture kickoff opening with a short animated story: Grace's first week after go-live.
Monday: a community group applies online, in ten minutes. Tuesday: the assessor scores it on the same screen. Wednesday: the group rings, and the call centre sees exactly where it's up to.
Thursday: Finance pays the first instalment from the same record. Friday: Grace's manager opens one report, not four spreadsheets. Every department sees its day in Grace's week, and where it hands over to the next.
